Easy Air Fryer Paneer
Paneer is a fresh cheese common in Indian cuisine. Unlike many cheeses, paneer does not melt, making it perfect for air-frying until crispy! Air fryer paneer slices are caramelized on the outside and soft on the inside. The mild cheesy flavor of paneer pairs well with a variety of sauces and the air-fried slices can be used in salads, sandwiches, and other dishes.
Ingredients
- Paneer: Most grocery stores carry paneer. Halloumi, another cheese that doesn’t melt, also works here.
- Salt: Optional, but recommended for flavor as paneer isn’t very salty on its own. You can also add spices with the salt.

6oz (170g) paneer
¼ tsp salt (or to taste)
Directions
- Slice the paneer into 1.25 cm/0.5 inch thick slices.
- Season the slices by sprinkling each side with salt and any other seasonings you’d like.
- If you are worried about the paneer sticking to your air fryer basket, you can spray the basket lightly with cooking oil. Arrange the paneer slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Overcrowding means your paneer will take longer to crisp up.
- Air fry at 200°C/390°F for 8 minutes. Depending on how full your basket is, you may need to flip the paneer slices and air-fry for another 2-3 minutes to crisp up the bottom side as well.
- Paneer hardens when it cools, so serve hot with your favorite sauces or use in other dishes!
